Day01

Airport to Sigiriya and Minneriya

Your first wildlife experience

Meet your English-speaking driver at Bandaranaike International Airport and travel through the countryside towards Sigiriya. In the afternoon or evening, head into Minneriya National Park for a safari in search of elephants, deer, monkeys, crocodiles, and birdlife.

Wildlife sightings and the most suitable safari area depend on seasonal conditions and animal movements.

Day02

Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa

A rock fortress and an ancient royal capital

Climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress and discover its gardens, frescoes, archaeological remains, and wide views. Continue to Polonnaruwa to explore ancient temples, statues, stupas, and royal buildings before returning to Sigiriya.

Day03

Sigiriya to Dambulla and Kandy

Sacred caves and the cultural capital

Travel to Kandy with stops at Dambulla Royal Cave Temple and Nalanda Gedige, an ancient stone temple shaped by Buddhist and Hindu influences. In Kandy, visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and enjoy a traditional cultural dance show.

Day04

Kandy to Nuwara Eliya and Ella

Tea country and one of Asia's great railway journeys

Travel into the central highlands, visit a tea plantation and factory, and stop at Ramboda Falls. Board the train at Nanu Oya for the celebrated journey through misty mountains, tea fields, forests, and valleys to Ella, where your driver will meet you.

Day05

Lipton's Seat and Little Adam's Peak

Two viewpoints above the highlands

Start early for the panoramic views from Lipton's Seat across tea plantations and valleys. After time to relax in Ella, walk up Little Adam's Peak in the evening for mountain scenery around sunset.

Day06

Ella to Tissamaharama

Railway heritage, waterfalls, and rock carvings

Visit Nine Arch Bridge and, when the timetable allows, watch a train cross the historic viaduct. Continue past Ravana Falls to the ancient rock-cut Buddha statues at Buduruwagala before travelling to Tissamaharama.

Day07

Yala National Park to Mirissa

An early safari before the southern coast

Explore Yala National Park with an experienced safari guide. Look for elephants, crocodiles, deer, buffalo, monkeys, sloth bears, and, with luck, the elusive Sri Lankan leopard. Continue afterwards to the beach town of Mirissa.

Wild animals move freely, so every safari is different and no particular sighting can be guaranteed.

Day08

Mirissa

A day to slow down beside the sea

Swim, relax on the beach, or explore Mirissa at your own pace. Later, visit Coconut Tree Hill for its distinctive palms and views across the Indian Ocean.

Day09

Mirissa to Galle and Negombo

Conservation and coastal history

Visit a sea turtle hatchery and learn about local conservation work. Continue to UNESCO-listed Galle Fort to walk its ramparts and atmospheric streets among colonial architecture, shops, and cafés, then travel to Negombo.

Day10

Negombo to the airport

A comfortable departure

Enjoy your final morning at the hotel or spend some free time in Negombo. At the agreed time, your driver will transfer you to Bandaranaike International Airport for your departure.
